Whenever you hear the word “Bingo”, the first picture that comes into your mind is a hall with old people looking at their cards and hovering on what the next number will be.  Although this is the usual scenario of a community playing bingo, this is not the real essence of the game.  Bingo is actually a game of fun, excitement and relaxation.  Many people enjoy playing bingo because it is a way to unwind after a busy week or just looking for something to kill time.  But what exactly is Bingo and how does it work?

What is Bingo?

Technically, bingo is played in halls.  The rules of the game vary from one location to the other, but the main objective of playing bingo is to build a pattern that corresponds to the numbers being called out by the host.  Before you play bingo, you need to familiarize yourself with the anatomy of a bingo card.  Basically, a bingo card is composed of a 5x5 corresponding to the five letters of the word “BINGO”.  The numbers under the letters are assigned at random, and there are only 24 number spaces with a free space on the center of the card.  Players will definitely receive different cards every time they play because manufacturers make sure that they produce at least 6,000 unduplicated cards.

Playing Bingo

 Before playing bingo, you need to purchase your cards from the host.  After that, take a seat and prepare your marker. Don’t forget to mark the free space before you play the game.   Listen to the host carefully.  The patterns like Blackout, horizontal, diagonal and vertical will be announced before the game.  This will be your objective, to create a certain pattern before anyone else does.  The numbers are announced by the Caller.  If the caller says B-4, you will look at the B column and check if you have any “4”.  If you have it, then put a mark on it.  Listen to the caller until you’ve come up with the required pattern.  As soon as you uncover the winning pattern, you should yell out the word “BINGO”.  Call out the marked numbers in your card and re-affirm it with the host.  If your card is valid, you can collect your prize.

 Playing bingo is really this simple.  You don’t to memorize any rules or learn complicated tips.  All you need is an alert mind and a strong sense of hearing.  Remember, just relax and enjoy the game.  It will all be worthy!
